If you've upgraded your brightwheel subscription to include Experience Curriculum, you are in the right spot!

The Lesson plans tab, accessible from the Learning Library on the web, is where you can create custom lesson plans, view and assign lesson plans to a room, and modify lesson plan details.

The Room plans tab is where you can view all lesson plans in your school that is assigned to a room. You can also add and assign new lesson plans to rooms from this tab as well.

💡 Any staff role can take these actions.

Lesson Plans vs. Room Plans

Lesson Plans are where you can view or create lesson plans to utilize across the entire program. Lesson plans can then be assigned to rooms which creates a unique copy. They are visible from the Lesson plans tab, accessible from the Learning Library on the web

Room Plans are where you can view the unique copy of a lesson plan assigned to a specific room. These are visible from the Room plans tab within your account on the web.

EXAMPLE: The Farm House Lesson Plan can be assigned to multiple rooms, such as Rooms A and B. Once it is assigned to Room A and B, it is considered a Room Plan!

Create a Custom Lesson Plan

If you want to create a custom lesson plan, see our resource here. If you're ready to assign an Experience Curriculum lesson plan to a room, continue reading below.

View and Assign a Lesson Plan to a Room

Viewing and assigning lesson plans allows you to get a holistic view of the plan for the entire week in a central spot. Assigning a lesson to a room creates a unique copy that is independent of the primary copy. If you edit a lesson before it's assigned to a room, the edit will apply once assigned. If you edit a lesson plan after it's assigned to a room, the edits will only apply to that room. A lesson plan that is not yet assigned to any room is the original copy.

  1. Log in on the web

  2. Click to open the Learning page from the purple side menu

  3. Open the Library and then the Lesson plans tab

  4. Locate the lesson to be assigned
💡 Use the search bar, scroll through the list, or use the Order by drop-down filters! Experience Curriculum lessons will automatically populate here after upgrading.

  5. Once you've located the lesson, click View and assign

  6. Edit the lesson plan as needed

  7. Click Assign to room

  8. Select the Room using the drop-down menu

  9. [Optional] Add an Assigned week
💡A room and week must be assigned on a lesson plan for it to appear on the app

  10. Click Assign

  11. Choose the assigned room and click View to view the lesson plan, or click All room Plans and then View to view all lesson plans for every room at the program

🚩 If you create a lesson plan for a room with one assigned for the week, an error will occur. Only one lesson plan can be assigned to a room each week.
