Guardians may no longer need access to a student's profile from their account and would like to have it removed. This might be necessary if:
A student has transferred programs, and you no longer need access to their old program's information
A student was enrolled in multiple programs but is only actively attending one
There was an error in setting up a student's profile, resulting in a duplicate
Who can remove a student profile?
Generally, parent contacts with edit permissions enabled can remove a student's profile from their own brightwheel account. This can be done directly through the web or mobile app by removing themselves as a contact.
Please note that if you are a Family, Approved Pickup, or Emergency Contact type, you won't have permissions to remove student profiles.
What if you don't have permission?
If you attempt to follow the steps and see a banner that reads 'This profile is available to view only', it means your account doesn't have the necessary edit permissions.
In this case, you'll need to contact your student's program administrator for assistance with removing the unwanted profile, requesting they remove you as a contact.
Remove a student profile
To remove an unwanted student's profile from your brightwheel account (or another contact's account if you have permission), you'll need to remove yourself or the other contact as an associated contact from that specific student profile.
Parents with edit permissions enabled can take the steps below to remove the student, or you can contact the provider for assistance.
🚩 Removing a student's profile will result in a loss of access to any historical data, including messages and billing records, immediately. We recommend downloading any billing information, such as your Tax Summary, before removing yourself.

ℹ️ What happens next? The profile will be removed from your child list upon refreshing the page. Please note that this action unlinks your account from that specific student profile and it does not delete the student's profile entirely from the program's system.

Why won't it let me remove a child from my brightwheel account?
Why won't it let me remove a child from my brightwheel account?
There are two primary reasons you might be unable to remove a student profile:
Lack of edit permissions: If you see a banner that says 'This profile is available to view only,' your program has restricted your editing permissions. You'll need to contact your program administrator to request the profile's removal.
Outstanding financial obligations: If you have unpaid invoices or are listed as the Primary Payer for the student, you will receive an error message when attempting to remove yourself. In this scenario, please contact the program directly to resolve any outstanding issues or clear invoices before attempting to remove the profile.
