A student contact (Parent, Family, or Approved Pickups) can be linked to multiple student profiles across various programs using the same login.

Student contacts do not need to deactivate their existing brightwheel account if their student switches to another program that uses brightwheel!

Connect to a new provider and student

If you're a parent or guardian joining a new brightwheel program or adding a student, please contact the program administrator directly. Only they can manage student profile access.

To assist the provider in linking your existing account to your student:

  1. Log in to brightwheel

  2. Note the email address or mobile number associated with your account under 'Account Info':

    • (Web): Click Profile

    • (App): Tap the three horizontal lines > Edit Profile

  3. Give these details to the new provider. It's essential they use it when adding you so you can view the new profile.

  4. Or, if you are a parent, the program can provide you with a 10-digit code to add the profile to your account.

Once the program adds you, all your student profiles (past and present) will be accessible from your existing account.

Remove old student profiles

We don't recommend deactivating or deleting a parent account when switching providers. This helps ensure parents can maintain access to historical student profiles.

If you prefer to only see current profiles, you might be able to remove old student profiles by removing yourself as a contact, provided you have editing permissions enabled. Visit Remove schools and student profiles for steps.

If you see a banner that says "This profile is available to view only," please contact the school administrator for assistance removing the profile.

Troubleshooting profile access

If you're having trouble viewing a student's profile after switching to a new provider, try these steps:

  • Confirm your login details. Make sure you're using the correct account connected to the new program

  • Verify contact information. Ask the new program's administrator to confirm that the contact details they added to the student's profile exactly matches the contact details on your existing account

  • Request an invite code. Parent contacts can ask the administrator for the 10-digit invite code for the new student's profile to add it themselves.
