Our recommended approach to billing payers separately is to split charges between each payer for billing plans. This can be great for many scenarios where multiple payers are needed (separated parents, divorced parents, co-parents, or multiple family members assisting with tuition). Taking this approach allows them to pay their own invoices separately and view only the balances they're responsible for. This method will be the easiest for admins to manage and will make reporting and accounting much cleaner. You can add a note on the billing plan to further identify the portion each payer is paying.
Payers will be able to see each other's invoices and payments within the student's profile in the payer's app in this scenario.
Review our Split Charges Across Payers resource for detailed information on how to do this.
If guardians must keep their payment information separate from one another, you will need to create separate students with separate billing profiles. These additional profiles would be strictly for billing and submitting payments. This is harder to manage for admins, but may be a suitable option if there is a need to separate:
Create a separate student and call it something like "Alex Smith Dad Payment"
Create another separate student for the other guardian with similar naming
Add the payer as a contact to the student account, and invite them to billing when you are ready; this allows them to view and pay their invoices
Last, set up a billing plan for each of the student profiles -- include charges for only the amount that the payer owes.
