Payers can remove their payment methods if the method is no longer needed or it has expired. This can be done independently through the brightwheel mobile app or by contacting the brightwheel Support team.
🚩 If removing a payment method, you may be responsible for making arrangements to pay any outstanding balances to your program. Contact your childcare program to understand acceptable payment methods and timelines. Additionally, programs can assist in providing alternative payment options.
Remove a payment method
Payers have the option to delete a payment method from their account as long as autopay is not turned on for that method and autopay is not required by your provider.

Log in to brightwheel (web or app)
Navigate to Payments > Payment Settings
If autopay is turned on for that method, scroll down to the My Autopay settings and turn autopay OFF to that method
Click Delete next to the payment method
After completing these steps, log out and log back in to confirm the removal.
Troubleshoot payment method removals
If you're unable to remove a payment method, it's likely because your provider requires mandatory autopay. This means the enrolled payment method cannot be removed and you must always have at least one on file. In this situation, you have a few options:
Update your autopay method. Add a new payment method, enroll it in autopay, and then delete the old one.
To remove all payment methods, contact your program and request they disable the autopay requirement for your account. Then you can delete the method(s).
