Autopay in brightwheel (also called automatic or direct withdrawal) saves you time and helps you never miss a payment by automatically charging the full balance on each statement's due date.
If required by your provider, you will automatically be enrolled in autopay. If it is not required, you can always enable it, or disable it yourself.
How automatic payments work
Autopay always triggers a payment for the the total balance due and any existing balance on the next statement due date.
If your provider requires mandatory autopay, you will automatically be signed up for autopay when you add a payment method. Or if a payment method is already saved, brightwheel will prompt you to sign up for autopay.
If the provider does not require autopay, payers can still manually sign up autopay.
Turn autopay on or off
Some programs require mandatory autopay. If itâs required, youâll see âRequired by schoolâ and wonât be able to turn it off or remove the linked payment method.
If itâs not required, you can turn autopay on or off anytime and add or remove your payment method as needed.

Go to the Payments page > Payment Settings tab
Under 'My Autopay status' turn ON or OFF for the payment method
Note: If youâre unable to change this setting or remove your payment method because autopay is mandatory, please reach out to your program admin to request that they disable it for you.
If you canât get in touch with a previous provider, you can contact the brightwheel Support Team to discuss your options.

To remove a payment method, you must first turn off autopay for it. If you're unable to do so, it's likely your program requires mandatory autopay. In that case, you'll need to contact your program and ask them to disable this setting for your account before you can remove the payment method.
