Autopay in brightwheel (also called automatic or direct withdrawal) saves you time and helps you never miss a payment by automatically charging the full balance on each statement's due date.

It can be customized for each student and you can connect multiple payment methods to autopay.

How automatic payments work

Autopay always triggers a payment for the the total balance due and any existing balance on next statement due date.

If your provider requires mandatory autopay, you will automatically be signed up for autopay when you add a payment method. Or if a payment method is already saved, brightwheel will prompt you to sign up for autopay.

If the provider does not require autopay, payers can still manually sign up autopay.

Turn autopay on or off

If the provider does not require autopay, payers can manage settings anytime.

  1. Log in to brightwheel (web or app)

  2. Go to the Payments page > Payment Settings tab

  3. Under 'My Autopay status' turn ON or OFF

  4. Select the payment method to use with autopay

FAQs

How do I see the payment method is used for autopay?

From the Payments > Payment Settings page, you can view your payment method used for autopay and your children signed up for autopay.

If I have multiple children, will autopay pay all bills at once?

If you are paying for multiple students/siblings, autopay is turned on for each, there are invoices with the same due date, and they are being charged to the same payment method - these payments will be bundled together as a single combined payment to save on fees.

How do I remove a payment method if I signed up for autopay?

While providers determine if autopay is mandatory, you can contact the brightwheel Support team if you wish to remove a payment method while on autopay.

If autopay is not mandatory, you can remove a payment method as long autopay is turned off.
