Guardians may wish to remove old student profiles and providers if:
The student not longer attends
Duplicate profiles were created by mistake
Who has permission to remove a child's profile
Parents can remove a student profile from their brightwheel account through the web or mobile app by removing themselves as a contact.
Families, Approved Pickups, and Emergency Contacts don’t have this permission.
If you see 'This profile is available to view only' you don't have permissions and you’ll need to ask your program administrator to remove you as a contact.
Remove a student profile
To remove an unwanted student profile from your brightwheel account (or another contact’s account, if you have permission), simply remove yourself or the other contact from that student’s profile.
🚩 Important: Once you remove yourself as a contact, you will lose access to historical data and previous profiles, including messages and billing records. Make sure to download any necessary information, such as your Tax Summary, before completing this step.

How do I remove old schools so I can be added to a new one?
How do I remove old schools so I can be added to a new one?
Removing an old provider is not required to connect to a new one! You can be connected to multiple providers at once, if you'd like. Simple have the new provider list you as a contact with your current account information to get connected and then you can delete yourself as a contact on the old profile to remove the school.

You will lose access to that student profile completely and this unlinks the profile from your account. This does not delete the student's profile from the program's system.
Why can't I remove a child from my brightwheel account?
Why can't I remove a child from my brightwheel account?
There are two primary reasons you might be unable to remove a student profile:
Lack of edit permissions: If you see a banner that says 'This profile is available to view only,' your program has restricted your editing permissions. You'll need to contact your program administrator to request the profile's removal.
Outstanding financial obligations: If you have unpaid invoices or are listed as the Primary Payer for the student, you will receive an error message when attempting to remove yourself. In this scenario, please contact the program directly to resolve any outstanding issues or clear invoices before attempting to remove the profile.
If you are unable to get in touch with the program, contact the brightwheel Support Team.
