Add students & create profiles

[For all Staff] Create student profiles to start logging activities, attendance, schedules, and more!

Adding students is the first step in inviting contacts, logging activities, recording attendance, and more!

Providers can easily create new student profiles on the mobile app and web.

💡 Tip: Let us set up your student profiles for you! If you have 10 or more new students to add, the fastest and easiest way is with brightwheel's Upload Tool.

Premium administrators can upload a file with student details, family contacts, and room assignments. Our team will then create all the student profiles for you.


Add a student

On the Web

For the best experience, we recommend creating student profiles from the brightwheel web view. You can easily create one or multiple student profiles.

  1. Log in on the web

  2. In the sidebar menu, click My School > Students

  3. Hit Add Students (top right) > Add manually

  4. Enter student information and select Save Students

On the App

  1. Log in on the mobile app

  2. From the Administrator Home, select School Profile

  3. Tap the Students box at the top of the screen

  4. Hit the plus + icon to add


What is in a student profile?

After adding a student, authorized staff can complete their profile with photos, contact details, allergy information, health records, and more! The tabs at the top of the profile give both staff and parents quick access to the student’s daily feed, learning, attachments, and paperwork.

While Administrators and Lead Staff can edit profile details, parents can only view specific sections the like personal info and contacts. Sections hidden from families will say Not visible to Parents and cannot be made accessible.
