Set up the brightwheel-KinderConnect integration

[For Admins] Learn how to set up KinderConnect in brightwheel to submit attendance data to your state subsidy agency.

Providers can use check-in data already entered in brightwheel to share attendance data with their KinderConnect account, saving time and reducing manual entry errors. This resource outlines how to set up the integration.

KinderConnect integration is available in the following states:

  • Arizona

  • Louisiana

  • Missouri

  • New York

  • Texas

  • Virginia

  • Oklahoma (coming soon)

Note: Iowa providers use KinderTrack, not KinderConnect. Locate steps here.


Step 1: Gather KinderConnect credentials

The first step is to contact KinderConnect to collect the following details. These will be entered into brightwheel in step 2.

  • Provider ID

  • Integration password (This is your brightwheel–KinderConnect password, not your brightwheel account password)


Step 2: Input credentials in brightwheel

Next, you'll enter your Provider ID and password in brightwheel.

  1. Log in to brightwheel on the web

  2. Go to My School > Settings

  3. Scroll to Integrations under School Info

  4. Select your state agency

  5. Enter your Provider ID and Integration Password
    ​💡 Texas providers: Click Add a Provider ID to enter multiple IDs if needed.


Step 3: Enter student IDs in brightwheel

The final step is to enter student KinderConnect IDs directly into brightwheel. If you don't have these already, first take steps to locate student IDs.

  1. Log in to brightwheel on the web

  2. Go to My School > Students in the sidebar menu

  3. Open each student who appears in KinderConnect

  4. Under each student's Integrations section, add their KinderConnect ID

  5. Repeat for all applicable students

You’re now connected! 🎉

You can now start sending your brightwheel attendance data to KinderConnect.

Locate KinderConnect student IDs

Student KinderConnect IDs can be found in your KinderConnect portal.

  1. Log in to KinderConnect

  2. Go to the Child tab > Select Child Search

  3. On the Student Report, locate the ID column for each student

Once you locate the IDs, keep this tab open for easy reference to enter into brightwheel.


FAQs

How do I know if I have multiple Provider IDs?

Only programs in Texas can have multiple IDs. If you are in Texas, please reach out to KinderConnect directly as they are responsible for providing IDs.
