Transfer my account to a different provider

[For Guardians] Learn how to connect to a new provider and add your child's profile if you are transferring to a new program or attending multiple.

Written by Audrey

Brightwheel makes it easy for families to manage multiple students and programs with a single account.

If your child moves to a new program that also uses brightwheel, you don't need to create a new account. Your existing account can be linked to their new student profile.

To manage these connections:

  • A provider can link or unlink a student from your account by adding or removing you as a contact on the student's profile

  • Once a student is connected, you can access their profile and all program-related information using your same brightwheel login

Move to a new provider

If you’re a parent or guardian joining a new brightwheel program or adding a student, please contact the program administrator directly to have your information added. This will connect your existing account to the new program. Or, if you are a parent contact, the program can provide you with a 10-digit code for you to add the profile to your account.

Steps to get connected to a new provider

To assist the provider in linking your existing account to your student, you'll want to first confirm the information associated with your account by clicking the three horizontal lines in the top left corner > Edit profile, then confirming the email or phone number listed under 'Account info.'

Note: For security reasons, brightwheel support cannot provide invite codes or directly manage account connections. Always contact your provider for assistance.

What happens next

Once the program adds you, the student profile(s) associated with that provider will be accessible from your existing account. You will also receive an email or text invitation once your account is successfully linked to the new program.

Remove old student profiles

We don't recommend deactivating or deleting a parent account when switching providers. This helps ensure parents can maintain access to historical student profiles.

If you prefer to only see current profiles, you can take steps to remove schools and student profiles (if your provider allows).

FAQs

Why can't I see my new provider?

If you're having trouble viewing a student's profile after switching to a new provider, try these steps:

  • Confirm your login details. Make sure you're using the correct account connected to the new program

  • Verify contact information. Ask the new program's administrator to confirm that the contact details they added to the student's profile exactly matches the contact details on your existing account

  • Request an invite code. Parent contacts can ask the administrator for the 10-digit invite code for the new student's profile to add it themselves.

  • Check the "Signed Up" status. In the student’s profile, ensure the "Signed Up" column shows as "Signed Up." If it says "Invite" or "Remind," ask the administrator to re-add your contact information correctly associated with your already set up account.
