Allowing Parents access to maintain, add, or edit information on their student's profiles can be a great way to keep information up to date. Admins and Managers can turn this privilege on and off as desired using the Parents Can Edit Student Info setting!
ℹ️ If the setting Parents Can Edit Student Info is turned OFF, Parents will not be able to edit the following information on the student's profile:
Profile data such Name, Birthday, Age, Gender, Race, Ethnicity, Allergies, Notes, Medications, Doctor, and Physical Address
Student profile picture
Custom student fields
Contacts
Enable/Disable Parent's Edit Access from the Web
Log into your brightwheel account
From the side menu, select My School > Settings
On the School Info tab, scroll down to the Access Settings tile
Toggle the Parents Can Edit Student Info setting ON/OFF as needed

Can admins customize this setting for just some parents?
This permission toggle is at the school level - either ALL parents can edit Student Profiles or none.
Do new schools need to choose this setting during the Getting Started process?
The default for new Schools is that this setting is toggled “OFF” - meaning parents do not have the ability to edit Student Profile by default for a new school. This should be enabled if desired following the guidance above.
