After setting up the KinderConnect integration in brightwheel, providers can send attendance data directly to their state portal. Once submitted, we recommend reviewing the records in KinderConnect to ensure everything transferred correctly and completely.

Checklist before submitting to KinderConnect

✅ Confirm “Approved” status

An 'Approved' status means the student’s KinderConnect ID is entered correctly in brightwheel. Unapproved or blank indicates a profile or connection issue. Visit our troubleshooting guide for help.

✅ Fix attendance errors

Attendance is sent exactly as shown in brightwheel. Correct any issues (e.g., overlaps or missing check-outs) before submitting. If errors exist, a red banner will appear at the top of the KinderConnect report in brightwheel and you can select Review to resolve them.

  1. Log into your KinderConnect account

  2. Go to Attendance tab > Attendance Detail

  3. If you have multiple Provider IDs (Texas providers), select the correct one to review data for

  4. Your data will have automatically been added to the attendance report in KinderConnect for the selected date range. Confirm attendance data appears with filled “In” and “Out” times and green check marks

đŸš© Important:

  • If you notice any discrepancies, submissions can be edited in KinderConnect, or any new and edited data in brightwheel can be re-submitted to overwrite existing data in KinderConnect

  • After submitting, since this integration only populates your attendance data in KinderConnect, any additional updates, processing, or KinderConnect functionality must be handled outside of brightwheel. Please contact the KinderConnect support team directly.

FAQs

Can I submit attendance data for a single student?

Yes, you can! In the KinderConnect report in brightwheel, you can use the Student filter at the top to filter for a single student, then click Submit to KinderConnect to send data for that student. This is helpful if some students are ready to submit now, while others need to be submitted later.

Why is it taking so long to send my data?

When you click Submit to KinderConnect, this process may take a bit of time to establish the connection and send the data. Once it has been sent, the brightwheel report will update with a Sent message.

Can I send attendance data for today?

No. When you choose a Start and End date, you cannot include today or future dates.

Why is my data not appearing in KinderConnect?

Try refreshing your page if you do not see the data immediately. If this doesn't work, visit Troubleshoot KinderConnect submissions for help.
