Sometimes you can't get to a message right away, or you may have backlog of message notifications that need to be cleared. In brightwheel, you can mark individual or multiple message threads as read and unread when needed.

Mark Messages as Unread

Marking a message as unread keeps the message thread highlighted, ensuring you never miss a response between providers and families, along with other staff.

On the Web

  1. Log in to brightwheel on the web.

  2. Go to the Messaging page

  3. Find the message thread you wish to mark as unread

  4. Hover over the message preview to see the Mark unread option

  5. Click Mark unread

  6. To mark messages as unread in bulk, select the checkboxes next to the desired threads and click Mark unread in the purple window that appears

💡 If you've clicked into the message thread on the web, you can mark it as unread by hovering over the thread preview until three dots appear. Click the dots and select Mark unread.

On the App

  1. Navigate to Messages on the mobile app

  2. Press and hold the message thread preview until the Mark unread option appears.

  3. Tap Mark unread
💡If you are program staff, you can mark multiple message threads as unread at once by clicking Edit in the bottom left corner of the screen. From there, select the checkboxes next to the desired threads and click Mark unread when ready.
