Keeping the brightwheel app updated to the latest version is an important step to make sure that each device is using the most secure version of brightwheel and has access to all of the latest features and updates.

Update iOS Devices

On iOS (Apple) devices, like iPhones and iPads, the brightwheel app can be updated manually, or set up for automatic updates to be downloaded each time a new version is released. For more information, see Apple Support's guide on How to Update Apps on your Apple Device.

The minimum operating system requirements are:

  • iOS 15 on an Apple device

🚩 If you are already using brightwheel and on an older device running iOS 14 or below, we recommend updating to the latest iOS. If you are unable to update to the minimum required version of iOS you will eventually be unable to utilize the brightwheel app. In order to continue using brightwheel you would need to purchase a device that can support iOS 15 or higher.

Update iOS App

  1. Open the App Store on the device

  2. Tap your profile icon at the top

  3. Tap Update next to brightwheel to update the brightwheel app, or Update All to download all available updates

Enable Automatic App Updates

  1. Open Settings

  2. Tap on the App Store

  3. Locate the Automatic Downloads section

  4. Use the toggle to turn on App Updates

Update Android Devices

Android apps can be updated manually, or set up for automatic updates to be downloaded each time a new version is released. For more information, see Android's guide to Update your Android Apps.

The minimum operating system requirements are:

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop on an Android device

Older devices that don’t meet these requirements are not compatible with brightwheel due to security and functionality concerns. Please be aware that the brightwheel mobile app is not available on Microsoft tables, such as the Microsoft Surface.

Update Android App

  1. Open the Google Play Store app

  2. At the top right, tap the profile icon

  3. Tap Manage apps & device
💡 Apps with an update available will be labeled Update available

  4. Tap Update for brightwheel

Update Android Apps Automatically

  1. Open the Google Play Store app

  2. At the top right, tap the profile icon

  3. Tap Settings > Network Preferences > Auto-update apps

  4. Select whether apps should update using either WiFi or data, or WiFi only
