Mark a Learning activity as complete

[For All Staff] Quickly track what was completed in your Lesson plans and share updates with families

Written by Audrey
Updated today

You can now mark Learning activities as complete right from your Lesson plans. It’s a quick way to keep track of what you taught and optionally share updates with families. It also helps you plan for future lessons by highlighting which activities haven’t been implemented.

If there’s learning you want to document more deeply, you can still log an Observation.

How it works

Staff can mark a Learning activity as complete directly from a Lesson plan. They can also either continue to log a learning Observation or return to the Lesson plan.

They can also choose to share the update with families so they can see what their child learned from their activity feed.

Completed activities will also show a checkmark on the Lesson plan, making it easy to see what’s been done at a glance.

Mark a Learning activity as complete

When marking a Learning activity as complete, staff will see the option to make it visible to only staff. If left blank, it will also be visible to families on the child’s feed.

On the app

  1. Log in on the app

  2. Go to Learning in a room

  3. Tap a Learning activity in a Lesson plan

  4. Click Log activity and select students

  5. Tap Confirm to mark complete, or Confirm and observe to also add an observation

On the web

  1. Log in on the web

  2. Go to Learning in the sidebar menu

  3. Under the Overview tab, open a Lesson plan and select a Learning activity

  4. Click Complete learning activity and choose students

  5. Click Confirm to mark complete, or Confirm and observe to add an observation

What you’ll see once a Learning activity is complete

  • A checkmark on the activity in your Lesson plan

  • An update in each selected student’s feed

  • Families will only see it if you choose to share

FAQs

Does this replace Observations?

No. Observations are still available and should be used to capture detailed, meaningful learning moments. Marking an activity as complete is just a quicker way to track what was done.

When should I log an Observation vs. mark an activity as complete?

Use activity completion for everyday tracking. Use observations when you want to document something specific about a child’s development.

Do I have to log an observation every time I complete an activity?

No. Logging an observation is optional, you can do it only when there’s something meaningful to capture.

Can I still log observations the same way as before?

Yes. The observation workflow remains the same and can still be used on its own by going to a room and clicking Add Activity > Observation.

Can I turn a completed activity into an observation?

Yes. After marking an activity as complete, you can continue and log an observation if needed.
