Why am I being charged after unenrolling my child?

[For Guardians] Learn why you might still see invoices after leaving a program.

Brightwheel provides tools for billing, but schools control all billing decisions, including charges, refunds, and unenrollment policies.

If you’re seeing a charge after leaving a program, it’s usually because there are still invoices that need to be paid or resolved. Some schools may also charge withdrawal fees, late notice fees, or final tuition based on contract terms.

How to resolve this

Review your billing account for outstanding balances

Go to the Payments tab to check for unpaid invoices or failed payments and make any necessary payments.

Contact your school

If you shouldn't owe any payments or have questions about what you see, your school can:

  • Explain charges

  • Adjust or remove invoices

  • Issue refunds

If your program needs assistance resolving any account issues for you, the brightwheel Support Team can help them.

If your school is closed and can't reach them

If you're unable to contact your school because they’re closed, try checking any documents you have for alternative email addresses or phone numbers to reach them if they are not responding within the brightwheel app. If that doesn’t work, we recommend contacting your bank directly to explore options for recovering the incorrect payments.
