Fix open timecard errors

[For Admins + Managers] Learn how to fix open or overlapping timecards.

If staff see errors like “Open timecard” or “The staff member already has a timecard within this time period," and they can't check-in, it usually means a previous timecard was never checked out, creating an open or overlapping timecard.

To resolve this, an administrator must add a check-out time to close the timecard. Once closed, the staff member can check in or out normally.


Fix an open timecard

To easily spot open timecards with a Time in but no Time out, Admins will want to filter for just open timecards across all time.

  1. Log in on the web

  2. Go to Staff > Time tracking

  3. In the grey box at the top, click select filter By: All time

  4. Next to the room filter, click Show only open timecards box

  5. For the open timecard, hit Actions > Edit

  6. Add a check-out time or delete the timecard, then Save

Once closed, the staff member can check in or out normally.


Turn on auto check-out to prevent open timecards

Turn on Auto check out to automatically check out staff at midnight. This setting ensures that any open timecards are automatically closed, preventing recurring errors. Find this setting under School settings > School info.
