Administrators have the ability to allow parent-level contacts to submit a health screen questionnaire from home. This allows administrators to review and accept this information prior to the student check-in or arrival to the program.

If you want to direct student contacts to this feature, or view what their experience is like, please see our Log Health Screens at Home resource.

Table of Contents

Enable Health Screens at Home

The health screens at home option can be enabled from the school settings on the web or on the app. The questions included in the health screen at home are the same as the health screen questionnaire.

From the web:

  1. Navigate to My School > Settings

  2. Tab over to School Info

  3. Under the Health Screens section, toggle on Students - at home

From the app:

  1. Log into brightwheel on the app

  2. From the administrator home screen tap School Profile > Check-in Settings

  3. Toggle on Student Health Screen - Home

Please Note: if administrators enable health screens at home, contacts will not be able to complete the health screen at check-in and vice versa

Customizing Health Screen Questionnaire

Many states and jurisdictions have unique requirements with regard to health screens and COVID-19. The Health Screen feature in brightwheel allows administrators to customize statements to be confirmed by parents.

  1. Navigate to My School > Settings

  2. Tab over to School Info

  3. Under the Health Screens section, click the purple ⚙️ Customize button

  4. Modify any current statement or add a new one by clicking + Add Another Statement

  5. Click Save to complete

Edit and Delete Health Screens

A parent level contact may submit a health screen by mistake that needs to be removed and re-completed or they may submit it at a later date or time which needs to be reflected earlier for record keeping purposes. Administrators have the option to edit or delete this home health screen activity from the student’s feed on the web and delete the activity on the app.

From the web:

  1. Log into brightwheel on the web

  2. Click My School > Students

  3. Locate student that the health screen needs to be edited and tap Feed

  4. Navigate to the health screen and press Edit

  5. From here, administrators can edit the date/time and notes or Delete the activity

From the app:

  1. Log into brightwheel on the app

  2. From the administrator home screen tap Rooms and locate the student for which the health screen was recorded

  3. From the student’s feed tap directly on the Health Screen activity

  4. Tap Delete

Failed Health Screen Notification

When a parent level contact fails to check all the questions on the health screen questionnaire, by mistake or intentionally, they will be presented with the following message: 'Please discuss your health screen with your provider to confirm it's okay to check-in.'

If they choose to continue with the check-in, administrators will receive a 'Health Screen Alert' push notification alerting them that the student failed the questionnaire. Tapping on the notification will immediately open that student's feed to display the most recent check-in and which questions were left unchecked.

Reviewing Health Screens

The results of the health screen that parent-level contacts submit from home can be viewed directly on the student's feed from both the web and the app. Administrators can quickly filter individual student feeds for this activity specifically. Here's how to review health screens from home:

From the web:

  1. Log into brightwheel on the web

  2. Click My School > Students

  3. Locate the student profile and tap Feed

  4. From the Activity type drop down menu filter for Home Health Screen and click Apply

  5. Review results directly on the student feed

From the app:

  1. Log into brightwheel on the app

  2. From the administrator home screen tap Rooms and locate the student for which the health screen was recorded

  3. Leave the filter drop-down menu set to 'All Activity'

  4. Locate and review the Health Screen results for that student
